Under inflated tires can cost you more money and cause you more problems than anything else on your bike.

Soft tires puncture easier, wear out faster, are more difficult to pedal, don't brake or stop as efficiently, make it easier to dent rims, and increase the possibility of pinch-flats.

Check your air pressure before every ride. (Inflate to the air pressure printed on both sides of ALL bicycle tires - in very hot weather drop the pressure by 10 PSI). This will prevent heat flats.

Always use a pressure or pump gauge to check your tire pressure. DON'T rely on "squeezing the tire" or "thumb pressure." (Car tire gauges DON'T measure higher bike tire air pressures. You need a bicycle tire gauge. Be sure it's made for the Presta or Schraeder valve stems that your tubes have.)
